Umbrella Company

About Umbrella Companies

The term umbrella company is used in UK to mean a company holding that specializes in subsidiary works. Generally, the works defined for it are more of the managerial type. The umbrella company is hired to undertake several interests of consumers or business companies. The concept of the company’s activities is to unite and control independent workers under a common body to facilitate easy procurement of services.

The implementation of the ir35 umbrella regulations favors group or umbrella companies rather than the individually owned firms. Under a common contractor umbrella, individuals get to receive all the kind of services that a normal job would require. For example, basing on set contracts and regulations, the company has an obligation to insure its employees, compute salaries /wages and effect tax deductions for their staff.

Staffs in an ir35 umbrella company have an indirect contact with the client. The company will have all the negotiations made with the employer and coordinate all the communication to its employees. Most of the services will be paid on a contractual basis depending on the agreement. This system is called the PAYE or pay as you earn. The advantage of umbrella companies is that you earn more than how you would if a new company was initiated.
